Backup and Disaster Recovery

New  Enhanced backup format

Paragon introduces a pVHD (Paragon Virtual Hard Drive) format – a special VHD, optimized for storing backups of virtual and physical machines. It’s very efficient in handling incremental chains, data de-duplication and synchronization.

 

What you get by using pVHD:

- Incremental imaging works much faster and rock-stable in comparison with the old PBF (10x faster increments to network shares);

- Instant virtualization ready. pVHD can be used to emulate a virtual disk container, thus allowing startup of the backed up system directly out of the backup image without restore;

- Besides pVHD, you're allowed to back up directly to any virtual container (VMDK, VHD, etc.)

New  Incremental Backup to VD

Create complex incremental chains, where each new increment describes the changes between the current state of the backup object (the entire system, a particular disk or volume) and the previous state. Moreover there's the option to create several chains based on one base image, provided each chain contains changed data of a particular object(s). To effectively manage backup contents and cut on backup storage requirements, the last increment in the chain is allowed to merge with the previous one, thus updating its contents.

New  Cyclic Backup to VD

Set up unattended backup operations involving regular creation of full or incremental virtual containers controlled by special backup data retention policies. This tool is fully compliant with the so called set-and-forget backup strategies. Unlike Cyclic Backup that works with PBF images, Cyclic Backup to VD offers more flexibility in configuring regular backup routines:

- It can process separate partitions or entire hard disks;

- It can do full and incremental images;

- Its retention mechanism is more efficient

New  Support of Windows BitLocker

Back up, restore, copy or change properties of volumes encrypted by this security feature. Combination of BitLocker and pVHD enables to achieve exceptional protection of OS and personal data from unauthorized access and from data loss

Update  UIM (Universal Image Mounter)

Apart from PBF images, Universal Image Mounter enables to mount (assign a drive letter to) New pVHD backup images (full, incremental, and encrypted) to browse their contents and retrieve data both, in the program and directly under Windows OS

Update  Application-level exludes
