A nifty tool for IT professionals and forensic experts, Image Mounter by Paragon Software allows for mounting of RAW images as well as virtual drives. Integration with proprietary file system drivers enables smooth high-performance operation with Linux and APFS-formatted drives under Windows OS.

Mounting of RAW images and a variety of virtual disk images

Physical level mounting of disks including all their partitions

Automatic mounting of partitions in the OS – for partitions formatted in known OS formats

File System Link drivers to ensure cross-platform compatibility: The Paragon software components allow the user to mount and operate Linux, HFS+, and APFS-formatted drives in the Windows environment

Full availability of standard OS features for handling mounted disks of known formats

Mount mode selection: read-only or read-write

Easy unmount in any required order

Supported image types

  • RAW image – bit-to-bit copy of devices or volumes. Often accompanied by metadata stored in separate formats and commonly used in forensics
  • VMDK – VMware Virtual Disk
  • VDI – VirtualBox Virtual Disk
  • VHD – Microsoft Virtual PC
  • pVHD – Paragon Virtual Disk
  • VHDX – Microsoft Hyper-V Virtual Disk.

System requirements

Must-have:

  • Windows 7 SP1/ Windows Server 2008 R2 or above

 

Optional:

  • Linux File Systems for Windows by Paragon Software
  • HFS+ for Windows by Paragon Software
  • APFS for Windows by Paragon Software.

Frequently Asked Questions

The product doesn’t run on Windows 7 SP1.
Please install this additional update for Windows 7 (KB3033929): x86 version, x64 version. Make sure that Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 RC is also installed on your computer. After that open Control Panel -> Uninstall Program and choose Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable -> Change -> Repair.
I cannot install the product via CLI.
Please install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 RC and try again.
My Internet Explorer displays a blank screen instead of the product registration window.
Please update your web browser.
Hard Disk Manager doesn’t see images mounted in Image Mounter by Paragon Software.
  • Find ‘layout.ini’ file.
    • HDM Basic (C:\Program Files\Paragon Software\Hard Disk Manager 16 Basic)
    • HDM for Windows (C:\Program Files\Hard Disk Manager [Version]\ for x64 version or C:\Program Files (x86)\Hard Disk Manager [Version]\ for x86 version)
  • Open ‘layout.ini’ with Notepad or any similar text editor, find the string ‘Show UIM drives’ and switch it to ‘on’
  • Save the file.
